INTRODUCTION - GOALS

My name is Karen Eterovich and my goal with this blog will be to organize and bring together family history going back to all 4 sets of my Great Grandparents. Stories and photos will come from my mother, father, grandmother, aunts, uncles, all my cousins and so on. When I was in 10th Grade, one large assignment we had in Mr. Ginter's World History class was to write our family history. At that time I was able to interview my grandmother on my Mom's side, my father and my Mother. I will transcribe that history into these pages. However, as you might imagine, at that time, since I was 16, these sources did not tell me everything. I feel fortunate because there is a set of my mother's first cousins that will be able to help with stories about the Slifkos and the Troyans. Unfortunately, my first cousins on my father's side may now all be deceased. 

Still, I am excited to start organizing this because I have a large photo collection. I have a suitcase full from my Great Aunt Anne (Anne Slifko Adomshick), my Grandmother (Marie Slifko Troyan) and my mother (Alice Marie Troyan Eterovich). On my father's side, some of the family history has been put together already because it was necessary for his solo art shows which began on his posthumous centennial in April 2016. My office is currently filled with documents and photos that have not been put in order. My plan is to scan all I can in the coming months and separate the families into file boxes. So far the file boxes might be my maternal grandmother's sisters: Great Aunts Alice & Anne, Marie Slifko Troyan, Great Uncle Joe Troyan, Alice Eterovich, Anthony Eterovich.

It will be of interest to my cousins (and, I hope, our child) to see the remembered anecdotes I have received by email from: 

1. Diane Slifko Dean (her father was my grandmother's brother, Steve Slifko. Steve Slifko married Margaret Marcinik)
2. Jerry Sovich (Jerry's mother Anna Troyan Sovich was my grandfathers only sister. Anna married Pete Sovich).
3. Gary Troyan (Matt Troyan's Son. Matt Troyan was my grandfathers youngest brother. Matt Troyan married Alice )
4. Jesse Eterovich (my father's nephew, George Jr., had six children. George Jr. married Jaclyn L.)
5. George Eterovich IV (Jesse's oldest brother. George and Jesse's Grandfather was my father's older and only brother.)

Right now, I have to review the history I wrote in the 10th grade to see if I have the birth years of my Great Grandparents on the Slifko side. Recently I visited Pleasant City and I have the birth dates and death dates of both of my Great Grandparents and my Grandfather Stephen Troyan who was crushed to death in a coal mine at the age of 25.
