The Circa 1916 Photo of the Troyan Family

When I found this photo at my mother's house I became excited. I became aware I was looking at my great-grandparents and catching a glimpse of my grandfather as a teenager. Gary Troyan confirmed that the baby on the lap of my great-grandmother, Helen, is my great-uncle Pete.  Top Row Left to Right: My Grandfather, Stephen Troyan born August 6, 1899 - crushed to death by a piece of slate in a mining accident at the Banner Mine in Byesville, Ohio on August 24, 1924. Stephen Troyan married Marie Slifko and they had two children, George Albert Troyan and Alice Marie Troyan Eterovich. The girl in this row is  Anna Troyan Sovich born on May 13, 1904 died on July 7, 1990 married Peter (Pete) Sovich and mother of Jerry Sovich and Ruth Sovich Wilgozy . INTRODUCTION - GOALS

My name is Karen Eterovich and my goal with this blog will be to organize and bring together family history going back to all 4 sets of my Great Grandparents. Stories and photos will come from my mother, father, grandmother, aunts, uncles, all my cousins and so on. When I was in 10th Grade, one large assignment we had in Mr. Ginter's World History class was to write our family history. At that time I was able to interview my grandmother on my Mom's side, my father and my Mother. I will transcribe that history into these pages. However, as you might imagine, at that time, since I was 16, these sources did not tell me everything. I feel fortunate because there is a set of my mother's first cousins that will be able to help with stories about the Slifkos and the Troyans. Unfortunately, my first cousins on my father's side may now all be deceased.  Still, I am excited to start organizing this because I have a large photo collection.
